Country Guest Bathroom Makeover Part One
Last spring, before The Second Kid graduated high school, we had several projects on the dreaded TO DO list. I actually love the TO DO list, The Husband does not. In his defense I wouldn’t want to work with me so I can not blame him!
“That woman is crazy!” ~source requests to remain anonymous
The biggest project on the list was the guest bathroom. It was in desperate need of update and repair so it was the perfect time to tackle it. By the way if your husband is anything like mine a looming deadline of 75 people coming to the house is serious inspiration to complete that TO DO list. Honestly the guests are not the inspiration so much as The Queen’s head spinning when the projects are not done; now that is inspiration!
We had discovered a condensation issue stemming from the toilet, that was starting to ruin the flooring around it. Annnnnd let’s be honest, I really wanted to get rid of that awful tile!
The pinkish tile was a gift from a friend, so very much appreciated at the time. Being a Stay At Home Mom with noooooooo money, it was the best gift ever. However after 20 years of looking at the “pinkish” tile I really should have said a kindly “no thank you” and skipped buying groceries that week to buy what I really wanted!
Ever have those moments when you say “How bad can it be?” After that statement you should always ask “How long will it have to be bad” ~that is the true question! 20 years in this case and it got pinker and pinker every year I think
Hooray Demolition time!

Save heavy plastic bags from cat and dog food, bird seed, etc.
They make great demolition clean up bags!

The husband got ahead of me, sorry no pics. This is where the vanity and toilet sat. Notice the water damage from the toilet condensation, the picture shows bleach running down the wall. This is to kill the little bit of mold that had grown there from the moisture.
At this point in the project the old flooring and damaged subfloor had been removed and repaired. This pic shows the new plywood in place, gettin closer!
I will leave you for now with a sneak preview of colors, curtains and tile samples. #Pepperann has them guarded : )
I hope you enjoyed a peak into our guest bathroom. Well…. that’s weird….. I mean glad you could look in on our progress in the bathroom…………still weird……. Never mind! If you have any question or comments please end them our way!
