Country Guest Bathroom Makeover Part Two

Country Guest Bathroom Makeover Part Two

When I left you in the last post the bathroom was in shambles; it had been mostly gutted.

If you missed that post click here to go back and read Country Guest  Bathroom Makeover Part One

I find it hard to understand how one room under construction can make a mess of the entire house, garage and woodshop!

We purchased a two piece tub and surround unit from Lowe’s.

For a how to video click here. I’ll let the folks from This Old House show you how to install one. Plumbing is so not my department! The Husband installed ours; he did it when I wasn’t home, so no pictures.

Oh My Gosh, he doesn’t listen!!!!

Only had to paint the top half of the wall. the bottom will be completely covered with our inexpensive alternative to true wainscoting

Just dry fitting the vanity to get measurements for the wainscoting

Finished wainscoting alternative.

To save money on the makeover we reused our old medicine cabinet. We just gave it a new paint job!

A close up look. See how we butted the trim pieces right into the medicine cabinet? We wanted the cabinet and trim to appear as one piece to give the pieces a built in look.

Notice the two paint colors?

We had an abundance of the camel colored paint left from another project so I mixed it with an ivory, about half and half, to come up with the wall color. This ensured the top and bottom colors went together perfectly!

I grabbed an old shutter from the shutter pile and simply leaned it up against the wall for color and texture.

What do you mean not everyone has an old shutter pile, really?!?!?

We always use Moen for plumbing fixtures. We have had great luck with them for years!

Double Curved Shower Curtain Rod is worth every penny extra!

Going from a garden tub to regular width shower I was really worried it would feel congested in there. We opted for the Double Curved Rod and it made a huge difference in the amount of elbow room.

Not sure about you but I’m not a skinny girl and I have no desire to have a shower curtain stuck to my a*$!

Simple pendant lights, very easy to install! Especially for me since I just watched The Husband do it. Again, electricity is not my department!

I love my tiny blue bottle. It came from the beach of The Great Sacandaga Reservoir in the Adirondacks. Love the Adirondacks, click here.

I have a serious thing for stars, they are just so perfect!

Notice the painted black door.

I was so nervous the first time I painted a door black. Now we have them throughout the house!

This is another room where we put down Brown Paper Bag Flooring. It has such a warm and inviting depth to it.
